ALBANY - Harriet "Inez" (Benion) Patchen, age 91, went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2014. She was born on September 11, 1923 in Prescott, Arizona, the daughter of Will and Amanda Benion. She worked as a welder during WWII and then went to school to become a Lab Technician. Inez married Arden A. Patchen on September 14th 1963 and they lived in rural Albany throughout their marriage. Inez worked at Stoughton Hospital as Lab Technician and later worked at Dr. Gray's office in Evansville until she retired.
Inez loved to spend time in her garden where she grew a wide variety of flowers. She enjoyed going fishing with Arden, attending church, and playing with her faithful dogs. One of her favorite memories was, when she was 66, riding a mule down the Grand Canyon while on vacation with her cousin Sandra. She attended Hilltop Community Church, serving as Church Historian, Secretary, and member of the social committee.
She is survived by cousins June Behm and Sandra (Bruce) Muckerheide; nieces Bea (Ted) Bergum, Delores (Jack) Patchen; nephews Alan (Ann) Patchen, Barry Joe (Alice) Patchen, and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Arden, sister and brothers-in-law Arthur Patchen and Ross and Gusti Patchen; niece and nephews Jack Patchen and Beverly and Stan Johnson.
The visitation will be held at the Hilltop Community Church in Albany on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 10 to 11:30 AM. The services will follow at 11:30 with Reverend Ray Jewell officiating. The interment will be in Hill Crest Cemetery in Albany, Wisconsin. A luncheon will follow at the church. Ward-Hurtley Funeral Home in Evansville will be assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Hilltop Community Church.
