Gregor V. "George" Brandli
Gregor V. "George" Brandli, age 81, formerly of Albany, died on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1927 in Wolfhausen, Switzerland, the son of Frantz and Hulda (Oberholzer) Brandli. He served in the Swiss Army. Gregor and Frances Swanson were married in Albany in 1978. He farmed in the Albany and Monroe area for many years.
Surviving is his daughter, Helen (Jeremy) Timm of Blanchardville; brothers, Gottlieb (Lucille) Sr. of Monroe, Frantz (Thresa) of Basel, Switzerland, Herman (Matilda) of Chur, Switzerland, Tonny (Ursi) of Scherzingen, Switzerland; sisters, Marie (Napflin) Brandli of Switzerland, Vreni Burki of Scherzingen, Switzerland; stepchildren, Julie Blumer, Penny (James) Thompson, James Swanson, Lori (Robert) Gile, all of Albany. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Frances; and brother, Edelbert.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. June 11, 2008 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be Fr. Michael E. Klarer, St. Victor Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Norwegian Settlement Cemetery, rural Albany. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon to the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Gregor's memory.
