Greg Holmes, age 55 of Seattle, died on Sunday, November 9, 2008 in Seattle, Washington. He was born on October 28, 1953 in Monroe, the son of Rex and Bonita (Lunde) Holmes. Greg was a 1971 graduate of Monroe High School. He began working in the heating and air conditioning industry with his father at Erickson Plumbing and Heating and continued to work in the industry the greater part of his life. Greg co-owned with his brother Mike at Holmes Heating and Sheetmetal Co. in Monroe, which his father started. Greg loved to travel and did so extensively, going to countries such as New Zealand and Australia. Greg especially loved hiking, biking and camping in the mountains in the state of Washington. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, keeping up with local teams even though he would be traveling in far places. Greg was an accomplished horseman in his earlier years. He appreciated spending time with his friends, whether they be lifelong or newly found.
Greg is survived by his mother, Bonita Holmes; sisters, Debra Holmes, Christy Sonderegger, Cathy (Ken) Rufener; brother, Michael (Beth) Holmes, all of Monroe; nieces and nephews, Daniel and Alex Holmes, Shawna McLoud, Kelly and Joe Sonderegger, Garrett and Nate Rufener; and a great nephew, Landon Sonderegger; close friends, Dan and Brenda Goodman of Seattle, WA. He was predeceased by his grandparents; and father, Rex, in 2000.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund is being established in Greg's memory.
