Glenn E. Smith age 77 of Monroe, died at his home on Thursday, November 8, 2012 with his family by his side. Glenn was born April 8, 1935 in Martintown, WI, the son of Vern and Erma (Cline) Smith. He married Verna Ostby on October 9, 1955 in Martintown. After working in construction for a few years, Glenn was employed as a construction foreman for the Green County Highway Dept. from 1964 until retiring in 1997. Glenn and Verna also farmed from 1969 until 1984 in Woodford, New Glarus, and Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Verna of Monroe; three children, Glenda (Dick) Yaun of Monroe, Paul (Laura) Smith of Argyle, and Julie (Donald) Trumpy of Monticello; six grandchildren, Chris (Edie) Yaun of Prophetstown, IL, Curt (Sarah) Yaun of Belmont, WI, Katie Yaun of Lexington, KY, Jennifer (Ray) Moore, Josh Smith, and Rebecca Smith, all of Argyle; six great-grandchildren, Haley Yaun, Lexie, Braxton, and Colton Yaun, and Logan and Anna Moore; sisters, Edith Milestone of Monroe, Virginia Ryser of New Glarus, Geraldine Johnson of Brodhead, Evelyn Tschanz, Maralyn (Don) Martin, and Beverly (Charles) Vandlen, all of Monroe; many nieces and nephews; and three Goddaughters, Deanna, Debbie, Denise and Vickie. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delbert; and a sister, Helen in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka of Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, officiating. Interment will be in Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Jordan Township, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Glenn's name.
