Glen A. Schwartz, age 93 of Monroe, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Glen was born June 12, 1920 in rural Green County to Albert and Mary (Westgard) Schwartz. Glen lived his entire life in the Monroe area, graduating from Monroe High School in 1938. He entered the U.S. Army in June, 1942 serving in the European and North African theaters with the 5th Army division. Following his honorable discharge in December 1945, Glen attended Carroll College in Waukesha. He married Mary Buss on December 26, 1946 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. He was involved in the insurance business for over 50 years and owned Schwartz Insurance in Monroe for 30 years. He was a long time member of St. Victor Catholic Church, professional insurance associations, Monroe Country Club, and the American Legion Post #84.

Survivors include his wife and faithful companion of 67 years, Mary Schwartz of Monroe; five children, Steven Schwartz of New Jersey, Elaine Christianson of Beloit, Randy (Carrie) Schwartz of Monroe, Mark (Sue) Schwartz of River Falls, and Dan (Amy) Schwartz of Madison; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his brother-in-law, Ernest (Kathy) Buss of Dodgeville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Teena DeRemer Schwartz; two sisters; and a brother and sister-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Larry Bakke officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Memorials are suggested to St. Clare of Assisi Parish or Masses in Glen's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
