Gerry L. Roper, age 46 of Argyle, died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1961 in Darlington, the son of Cecil and Lavada (Andrews) Roper. Gerry attended Shullsburg and Monroe Schools. He married Lucy Kraft. He was a cheesemaker and did farmwork in the area the greater part of his life. Gerry was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, and he also enjoyed company of his friends and being around family.

Surviving are his children, Lana (Steve Tree) Roper of Argyle, Garrett (Lynn Dean) Roper of Monroe, Grant Roper of South Wayne; mother, Lavada (Arthur Schneider) Roper of Monroe; 5 grandchildren; brothers, Arnie (Janet) Roper of Platteville, Jesse (Grace) Roper of Monroe and Ron (Cindy) Roper of Wisconsin Dells. He was predeceased by his grandparents and his father.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Monroe Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1802 8th St. Officiating will be Pastor Lisa Isensee, with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.
