Geraldine R. "Gerri" Huston, age 79, of Monroe, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Gerri was born June 2, 1930 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Vere and Dorothy Mae (Herbig) Fralick.

She graduated from Monroe High School in 1948 and Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement in 1980.

She married Enoch E. Huston on June 17, 1951 in Chicago. Gerri worked at the Green County Sheriff's Dept. for 11 years as a cook, jailer, and dispatcher.

She was a member of the Green County Law Enforcement Assoc., V.F.W. Auxiliary to Cecil Jones Post #2312, and the Women of the Moose Chapter #599.

Gerri loved spending time with her family, nature, visiting with people, and law enforcement. She was a first aid instructor for the Red Cross, a cub scout den mother, and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes (made wedding cakes for all her children).

She also worked in disaster relief and first aid stations at county fairs and after the 1965 tornado.

She is survived by her husband, Enoch "Eddie" Huston of Monroe; seven children, Wayne (Vickie) of Monroe, Doug (Nancy) of Dakota, IL, Greg of Monroe, Sue (Jim) Shelton of Juda, Willie, Lloyd, both of Monroe, and Richie (Laurie) of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons, 2 honorary grandchildren; 4 step-greatgrandchildren; 2 honorary greatgrandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Ray) Alto of Escondido, CA; half-brother, Chuck (Mary) Baumgartner; 3 half-sisters, Donna Estavane and Dora Mejia of CA, and Betty Powell of IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and half-brother, Oliver Anderson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. Thomas Miller of the Zion United Methodist Church, Juda, officiating. Interment will follow in Kelly Cemetery, Cadiz Township. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the Monroe Moose Lodge. A memorial fund will be established in her name.
