Geraldine "Jerry" Dedrick, age 93 of Brodhead, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Woods Crossing in Brodhead. Jerry was born on February 2, 1918 in Paris, Texas, the daughter of Steve and Clara (Bowen) Kennedy. Jerry graduated from High School in Paris, TX. Geraldine married Frank W. Dedrick on May 3, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She worked with her husband in the family business, Dedrick hardware for many years. She is a member of the United Methodist Church of Brodhead; where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on various committees in the church. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, she enjoyed sewing, playing golf and cooking.
She is survived by her son Brian (Norma) Dedrick of Brodhead; two grandsons: Noah Dedrick of Brodhead and Nathan Shearer of Lacrosse; 2 step grandchildren: Fania Casper and Mark Prindle; a nephew, Jeffrey (Shelby) Knezzel of Appleton, WI; and her best friend Jennifer Goudy. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son in infancy, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Pastor Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Brodhead. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
