Gerald E. Johnson age 74 of Darlington, WI entered the gates of heaven Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA, after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born December 20, 1934 in Darlington, the son of Wilfred C. Johnson and Gladys (Olson) Alderson Barclay. Gerald graduated from Darlington High School in 1953 and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Gerald is survived by his sisters: Karen (Alderson) Milligan of Milwaukee, WI and Rhonda (William) Johnson-Moreton of Crystal River, FL; his brother: Orlan (Cornelia) Johnson of Chapel Hill, NC; a special niece: Jill Leigh; nephews: Trevor Gough, Kevin Johnson, and Clayton Bristol; nieces: Bettina Johnson and Melissa Pate. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gerald will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Gerald was a master of whatever he attempted, from tennis to computers. He served in the US Army from January 27, 1955 to January 25, 1957 stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Park Place in Darlington, WI with Rev. Nate Whiteside of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.
