FREEPORT - George E. Waller, 89, of Freeport, formerly of Rock City, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. Born December 5, 1919 at Durand he was the son of Lee and Lillian (Holland) Waller. He was a 1938 graduate of Durand High School and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Freeport; stepdaughter, Donna (Fred) Hand of Rock Falls; 2 stepsons, William (Donna) Trimble of Juda, WI, David (Barbara) Trimble of Muscatine, IA; 9 step-grandchildren, 17 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Neva Sweet of Durand; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were parents; stepson, Bob Trimble; step-grandson, Brian Cain; and one brother, Robert.

Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Indian Grove Country Church at Rock City. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport with military honors. A memorial has been established in his name.
