Frieda M. Siedschlag, age 98 of Juda, died with her family by her side on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Frieda was born December 28, 1913 in Spring Grove Township, Green County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles W. and Anna Louise (Wolfe) Smith. She attended Davis Country School and graduated from Juda High School in 1931.

Frieda and Melvin C. Siedschlag were united in marriage on January 26, 1933 at the Evangelical Church parsonage in Juda.

Following their marriage, she and Melvin farmed on the Siedschlag home farm in Sylvester Township until moving into Juda in 1966.

Frieda also worked at Green County Pre-Pak and Helland's Food and Locker until she was 77 years old.

She was a member of the Balls Mill Homemakers and the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Frieda loved to be with her family, attend family functions, work with flowers, and tend to her garden.

She is survived by four sons, Larry of Erie, CO, David (Angie) of Engelwood, FL, Duane (Sherri) of Mackinaw, IL, and Allen (Marla) of Oregon, WI; three daughters, Betty Siedschlag of Juda, Carol Sager of Waverly, IA, and Linda (Robert) Alderks of Chana, IL; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Melvin, on Dec. 1, 1975; three sisters, Dorothy Feldt, Luella Falk, and Marvel Zee; three brothers, William, Harry, and Raymond Smith; and a son-in-law, Jerry Sager.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zion United Methodist Church, Juda. Rev. Vicki Brantmeyer will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Friday, January 6, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

A memorial fund will be established in Frieda's name for the Zion United Methodist Church and the Juda Fire Dept.
