Frank R. VanderVelden Jr. age 77 of Monroe, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his home. He was born on March 7, 1938 in Monroe, the son of Frank and Lucile (Zuhlke) VanderVelden Sr. He served in the National Guard from 1956 to 1959. Frank married Darlene Breitenfeld in 1982; he later married Vivian Teague in 2014.
Frank left home at the age of 16 and started working. He had a love for trucking and made it his life. He bought his first truck and trailer in 1971 and started his own trucking business, which he ran up until 2008. After selling his business, he worked for Ursa Logistics in Janesville from 2009 to 2015. He belonged to St. Victors Catholic Church and The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #754. He had a side business called "Frank's Junk Sale" which he enjoyed doing, along with fishing and hunting. His greatest treasure was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian of Monroe, mother, Lucile of Monroe, son, Steven (Lisa) Elmer of Juda; step-daughter, Tammy (Rick) Naramore of Brodhead; grandchildren: Katie Krieger; Triniti, Miah and Aidan Elmer; Dustin and Dakota Naramore; sister, Deb (Andy) Buol of Monroe; brother, Dennis (Carrol) VanderVelden of Monroe; mother-in-law, Sophia Teague; honorary grandfather to: Thomas, Jonathan, and Lynanne Fosler; also his loving pets, Lilly and Sweet Pea. He was preceded in death by his father, wife, Darlene; sons: Brian, Kirby and Kurt; a brother, Phil; and father-in-law, Harrison Teague; his loyal little buddy, his dog Boogie.
Frank wants to be remembered as being the happy go lucky man he was. He loved to make everyone smile and laugh. He put a lot of love into the family farm, restoring it and creating nature trails throughout the property.
Per Frank's wishes private services were held at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Monsignor Larry Bakke celebrating.
