DARLINGTON - Gratiot Fire Department was dispatched at about 11 a.m. Tuesday for a barn fire on Dunbarton Road in the Town of Gratiot. Deputies report the building caught on fire during a control burn in the area. Fire departments from Shullsburg and Apple River, Ill., provided mutual aid. Lafayette County Sheriff's Department assisted with traffic control.
- Darlington Fire Department was dispatched at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday for a vehicle fire on County G in the Town of Kendall. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Angel M. Ackerman, 27, Montfort, was westbound and towing a second vehicle, a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer, on a car dolly. Ackerman noticed the Blazer was smoking and pulled her vehicle to the side of the road. The Blazer was disconnected from the dolly and from the Ackerman vehicle, which were not damaged. The Blazer became engulfed in the fire and was a total loss. Ackerman and her passenger, Nicholas J. Ackerman, 28, Montfort, were not injured in the incident. Ackerman was cited for no vehicle insurance.
