JUDA - Seven fire departments responded to a barn fire at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at a farm owned by Gene and Amanda Swedlund, N395 Union Road.
Juda Fire Chief Steve Isely said his department was alerted about 5:45 p.m. Departments from Juda, Brodhead, Albany, Monroe, Footville, Rock City, Ill., Davis, Ill., and Cedarville, Ill., responded to the fire. The departments stayed at the scene until about 10:30 p.m., Isely said. The Green County Sheriff's Department also assisted at the scene.
Isely said the cause of the fire hasn't been determined. The barn was a total loss, he added.
Amanda Swedlund said she saw smoke coming from the barn from the window and immediately called the 9-1-1. She and her husband stopped milking cows about a year ago, but did have some beef cows in the barn yard. None of them were injured in the fire.
