Evelyn C. Marty, age 96 of South Wayne, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the LaFayette Manor in Darlington. She was born on November 26, 1915, the daughter of William and Jennie (Rabe) Babler. She was a graduate of New Glarus High School. Evelyn and Joseph A. Marty were married on November 26, 1936 in Belleville. She worked for the Pet Milk Company and made cheese with her husband Joe at the Scott Factory and then at the Mayer Cheese Factory both in Browntown. Evelyn and her husband Joe, built Marty's Village Inn in South Wayne in 1969, where she also worked. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Deb) Marty of Lena, IL and Delano (Joann) Marty of South Wayne; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; a sister, Uva Van Houten of Monroe and brother-in-law, Gary Stark. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Joe; daughters, Marlys Peterson, Nola Stark; granddaughters, Tamra and Dawn Marty, Candy Stauffacher, also a brother, Daryl "Sonny" Babler.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown with Rev. David Busker officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in South Wayne. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Noon at the Church. The Hanson Funeral Home, South Wayne is serving the family.
