Evadine A. Lawver, 85, formerly of Rock City, died Saturday, November 7, 2009 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born May 23, 1924 in Freeport she was the daughter of John C. and Elvia C. (Fawver) Barr. She was a graduate of Dakota High School and later attended Brown's Business College in Freeport. She and Wesley R. Lawver were married August 19, 1948 in Rock City. He preceded her in death in March of 1991. After graduating she worked for Crum Forster, Structo Co. and Burgess Battery. She was a member of Rock City United Methodist Church in Rock City, Stephenson County Home Extension in the Happy Day Unit and a charter member of the Rock Run Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting and playing bunko.
She is survived by five children: Zane (Carolyn) Lawver of Freeport, D. Linden (Betty Jo) Lawver of Cary N.C., Cynthia (David) Sickinger of Freeport, Mark Lawver and John Lawver, both of Rock City; eight grandchildren: Zane Jr., Brandi, Amanda, Christine, Rachel, Daniel, Ashley and Brooke; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Rock City United Methodist Church with the Reverend Brian LeBaron officiating. Friends may call Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will be in the St. Paul Church of Epleyanna Cemetery, Davis.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
