Esther S. Rufer age 89 of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Monroe Manor. She was born on February 24, 1922 in Monroe, the daughter of Swiss and German immigrants; Jacob and Bertha (Kaehler) Bolliger. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1940. She was employed by Advance Transformer for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, playing Canasta and watching the Green Bay Packers.
She is survived by her two granddaughters: Laura (Mark) Westphal of Belleville and Miranda (Todd) Christen of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rufer of Monroe; great grandchildren: Austin and Owen; step-great grandchildren: Tim, Tad and Tashia. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 children: David Rufer, Susan Rufer and Neil Rufer; a brother, Hub Bolliger and a sister, Ruth Bolliger.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home, with Reverend David Busker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM, until the time of service.
