HAZEL GREEN - Ervin William Rupnow, 87, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at home in Jamestown Township, Hazel Green.

Ervin was born on August 7, 1921, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Emil and Mary (Meythaler) Rupnow. Ervin worked as cheese maker in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin for many years and was employed as a Mayflower driver. He also owned an antique and used furniture business on Central Avenue in Dubuque.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Nancy (Joel) Wells, of Davis, Illinois, and Barb (Gerald) Clutter, of Rockford Illinois; two sons, Duane (Dee) Rupnow, of Emmett, Idaho, and Dennis (Judy McConnell/special friend) Rupnow, of East Dubuque, Illinois; a sister, Ramona Rupnow, of Waukegan, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Betty Rupnow, of Lena, Illinois; his former wife, Lois L. Pitz of Dubuque, Iowa; and Margaret's special sons, Jim (Lisa) Petsche, of Monona, Iowa, Steve (Judy) Petsche of Marquette, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mary (Meythaler) Rupnow and three brothers, Virgil, Elwyn, and Nathan (Ole).

Ervin requested no funeral service. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Dakota, Illinois. The Casey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cuba City, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.caseyfuneralhome.net.
