Elizabeth Siegenthaler, age 89 of Monticello died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Elizabeth was born March 18, 1921 on her parents home farm in Green County. She was the daughter of Albert and Anna (Volkhart) Vogel. She married Glenn Siegenthaler on March 21, 1943 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. They farmed in Mt. Pleasant Township until Glenn's death on November 29, 1994. Liz continued to live on the farm until her death.

She was a member of the Monroe Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, enjoyed the weekly Yass game with her siblings, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by twelve children, Mary (David) Baker of New Glarus, Carol (Louis) Schultz of South Wayne, LeRoy Siegenthaler, Linda (Dennis) Thoman, Glenda Thoman, Ralph (Nancy) Siegenthaler, all of Monticello, Kathleen (Mitchell) Lindgren of Fond du Lac, Evelyn Thoman of Monroe, Lyle (Kathleen) Siegenthaler of Marionville, MO, Christine (Tom) Wenger of Juda, Elaine (Tim) Maney of Walpole, N.H., and Duane (Brenda) Siegenthaler of New Glarus; 36 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Sonderegger; a brother, Werner (Wilma) Vogel; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Vogel, all of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren, Darci Schultz and Wade Thoman; two brothers, John and Walter Vogel; and a sister, Rosa Buholzer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Elizabeth's name for the Green County Food Pantry and Monroe Clinic Hospice.
