MONROE/NEW GLARUS - Eldon Ott, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was born February 22, 1927 in York Township, Green County Wisconsin the son of Anna (Klassy) and Gottfried "Jacob "Ott. He was married to the former Iona Vamstad, on October 2, 1948 at York Memorial Lutheran Church, rural Blanchardville. Eldon made cheese for 19 years at River Forks Cheese Factory in rural Hollandale until 1972 when he moved his family to Monroe Wisconsin where he operated Ott Cheese Incorporated until "retiring" in 1987. After retiring from Cheesemaking, Eldon became a Messenger for Swiss Colony Stores delivering packages all over Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Eldon also kept himself busy during retirement driving for Green County Human Services taking patients to medical appointments in Madison, and along with his wife delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with family and friends. Eldon is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Iona. Two sons James (Anne) of Madison, and Thomas (Dawn) of Browntown; four grandchildren Emily Weisensel and Vincent, Cody and Alisha Ott; two brothers Delbert (Gilma) of Monticello, and Donald (Donna) and a sister-in-law Zoa (Hervey) both of Verona along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, an infant brother (Delmar) and an adult brother (Hervey).

Funeral services will be held at Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m with Pastor John Ruck officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
