Dr. Carlos A. Jaramillo II

Dr. Carlos A. Jaramillo II, age 94 of Monroe, passed on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 13, 1921 in Lima, Peru, the son of Dr. Carlos A. Jaramillo I and Maria Teresa Dominguez.

Carlos and Mimma were married in Civil Ceremony, on November 24, 1951, and in religious ceremony on December 24, 1951, at the Catholic Church Maria del Pilar, in Lima, Peru. They came to Monroe in 1967. He was involved in many organizations and activities throughout his life. Most of all Carlos loved spending time with his family, which he had said many times, is the most important thing in life.

Dr. Jaramillo joined St. Clare Hospital in Monroe in 1967 as a Pathologist, holding this position until his retirement in 1996. He participated in hospital activities, serving on various committees and maintained an active C.M.E. program and as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Wisconsin, he taught Pathology to medical students.

Carlos became an American citizen in 1960 and was an active member in professional societies including: Green County and Wisconsin Medical Societies, the American Medical Association, the USA and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Paleopathology Club of I.A.P., the Wisconsin S. of Pathology, the Pan American Medical Association, College of American Pathologist, the ASCP, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the International Medical Graduates of S.M.S. of WI, Diplomate of Pan American Medical Association, Latin American Society of Pathology, American Society of Cytology, Society of Practitioners of Infectious Diseases, Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners 1995, lectured as a visiting Professor of Pathology at the medical school of Guadalajara, Mexico.

He felt his greatest memory was that in 1942, while a student at Bethany College West Virginia, he was invited to participate upon the recommendation of the Institute of International Education, to attend the International Student Assembly in Washington D.C. This was an international meeting with the participation of Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt. He was elected as a representative of West Virginia and then as the representative of the Unites States. At the conference he was elected chairman of the steering committee; this included participating in the writing of the rules and constitution of the organization. During this occasion he was invited to the White House to meet President Roosevelt. Shaking hands with President Roosevelt was an unforgettable memory for him.

Surviving are his children, Maria del Pilar (Gerald) Bayer of Green Bay, WI, Maria Rocio del Carmen Jaramillo of Chicago, IL, Carlos Alberto (Adriana) Jaramillo III of Madison, WI, Maria Teresa Jaramillo-Bray of Lakeville, MN, and Maria Mercedes Giallombardo of Atlanta, GA, brother Jorge Oscar (Enilda) Jaramillo of Lima, Peru and sister Maria Teresa (Harold) Meconi of Menlo Park, CA; grandchildren, Karla (James) Schmidt, Michael Bayer, John Bayer, David Bayer, Carlos Jaramillo IV, Elizabeth Jaramillo, Christina (Adam) Kuhlmann, David (Stephanie) Bray, Laura (Nick) Bray, Antony Giallombardo, Dominic Giallombardo, Gabriella (Michael) Williams; and great grandchildren: Colton and Hadley Schmidt, Mason, Carter and Savannah Kuhlmann, Isaac, Ezra and Jonah Bray, Barrett Williams, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, parents, brother, nephew and grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Michael E. Klarer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be Friday, November 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18 Ave., in Monroe. A memorial fund is being established in Carlos's name. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com
