Douglas H. Spooner, age 40, of Brodhead, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on April 30, 1970, in Stoughton, the son of Don H. and Alberta Ann (Swango) Spooner. Douglas graduated from Evansville High School and attended U.W. Platteville. Douglas and Cynthia Steindorf were married on June 1, 1991.

He was an over the road livestock truck driver. He was very involved in the agriculture community within the county, state and midwest. He served as an officer of the Wisconsin Simmental Assoc. and was very active in the American Simmental Assoc. He was also the 4-H beef leader.

He is survived by his children; Kaitlin, Cody and, Clay Spooner of Brodhead; granddaughter, Braelynn Spooner; parents, Don H. and Alberta Ann Spooner of Evansville/Brodhead area; sisters, Debra (Todd) Gorr of Monroe, Dana Spooner-Bear of Oklahoma City, OK and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gillies and Virginia Spooner and maternal grandparents, Albert and Murial Swango.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr. and 18th Ave. in Monroe. Co-Officiating will be Pastor Doug Workman and Pastor Paul Gregerson. Following services a luncheon will be held at the Albany Lion's Club. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for his children at the Bank of Brodhead.
