Dorothy Jean (Gempeler, Schneider) Fisher, age 81, of Belleville passed away at her home. She was born on September 14, 1929 to her parents Albert and Alwina (Wittenwyler) Gempeler. On September 1, 1948 she was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Schneider at Zwingli Church in Monticello. Later in life she married William P. Fisher on July 10, 1971 at Belleville. After the passing of her husband William, Dorothy met Roger Bollerud through the Evansville VFW Post #6905, he later became her POOSSLQ. Dorothy retired in 1992 after many years as a nursing assistant from the Dane County Home Hospital. Previously she had worked at Central Colony and St. Clare Hospital in Monroe. Dorothy during her life had also worked as a waitress, house cleaner, cannery worker, and farmer. After her retirement she worked at Federal Industries in Belleville. Dorothy was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. She enjoyed traveling the world with her family and friends including weekends at her northern estate with her special friend Cleota Caldwell.
Dorothy is survived by her children Kendall (Debbie) Schneider, Kevin (Betty Brattrud) Schneider, Shirley (Lani Urbas) Wickersham, Jean (Gary) Heinzman, Barbara (Paul) Moser, Beverly (David) Mares, and Bonny (Edward) Engen. She is further survived by her sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren with one on the way, and former daughter-in-law Debbie White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, and a brother Glen Gempeler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating with burial in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville, WI
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.
