Daryl W. "Butch" Severson age 71, of Browntown, Wisconsin died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1940 the son of Lorrel & Ruth (Gordee) Severson at Wiota, and attended Monroe Schools. Daryl served in the U.S. Army and later served in the National Guard in Wisconsin.
Daryl married Virginia Finley on November 17, 1962 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. He worked for Burgess Battery in Freeport, IL, farmed in Rock & Green County, was a truck driver for Green County Farm Bureau, worked at Frito Lay in Monroe, was a truck driver for Whitehead Trucking, drove truck for Dorman's Cheese in Monroe, was an owner/operator of his own trucking company, and also was a part-time milk hauler for Faith Trucking. Daryl was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Zilmer Riley American Legion Post #84, Cecil Jones VFW Post #2312, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #754, special deputy for Green County Sheriff's Department, and was a Cub Scouts Leader for Troop 212.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia "Ginny" Severson of Browntown, WI; children, Wayne Severson of Monroe, Sherri Severson of Monroe, Shelle Holland of Monroe; grandson, Nathaniel Holland of Monroe; brother, Roger (Jan) Severson of Madison; sister, Donna (Bob) Wartenweiler of Monroe; aunts & uncles, Dolly Campbell, Russell Severson, Eleanor Klemm, & Joyce Smith; special godson, Dale Finley; and many nieces, nephews, & godchildren. He is predeceased by his grandparents; parents, Lorrel Severson, Ruth & Bob Trickel; brothers-in-law, James Finley & Albee, Jr. (Sandra) Paulson, and uncles & aunts.
Daryl enjoyed spending time with family & friends, especially his grandson, Nathan, and one of his passions of life was his trucking.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Jordan Lutheran Church, north of Browntown, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe with Military Graveside Service.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe, WI with Moose Lodge Service at 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established in the memory of Daryl.
