Crystal A. Haegele, age 79, of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Monroe Manor Nursing Home. She was born March 3, 1929, in Primrose Township, Dane County, WI, the daughter of Eric and Dora (Stephenson) Norland and graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1947.
Crystal and Norman Haegele were married on June 20, 1947, at Primrose Lutheran Church and they farmed in New Glarus and Monticello area until moving to Monroe in 1957. Crystal also worked for John C. Haley Insurance and Real Estate in Madison and Commercial and Savings Bank in Monroe until retiring in 1990. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Surviving are her husband, Norman Haegele of Monroe; daughter, Noreen Reineke of Sun Prairie; son, Dennis Haegele of Monroe; sister-in-law, Helen Gmur of New Glarus; granddaughter, Michelle (Ted) Crary of Baraboo; great-granddaughters, Emma and Whitney Crary; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Sidney, Edner, Donald and Marvin Norland; and sisters, Stella Erdahl, Judith Hefty, Ruth Goldben, and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2008 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Monroe with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe.
A memorial fund is being established in Crystal's memory.
