Clarence O. Leaver Jr., age 87 of Juda, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at U.W. Hospital following a sudden illness.

Clarence was born January 5, 1923 in Avon Township, Rock County, the son of Clarence Leaver Sr. and Lydia Clark.

He graduated from Brodhead High School in 1941 and married Marion Schwarzenberger on February 9, 1947 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe.

He and Marion farmed in Jefferson Township before moving to their present farm in Sylvester Township in 1961.

Clarence enjoyed researching family genealogy and connecting with his Norwegian roots. He documented volumes of family history for the benefit of his family.

His passion of farming was evident in the many wood farm toys that Clarence would construct from his ingenious craftsmanship and wood working skills.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Leaver of Juda; five children, Daniel (Debra Zillmer) Leaver of Westmont, IL, Richard (Kristine) Leaver of Beaver Dam, WI, Laura Leaver of Monroe, Thomas (Dawn) Leaver, and Patricia (Larry) Judge, all of Baraboo; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Richard Bushmeyer of Rockford, IL and his children, Mary, Jane, Clark, Sarah, and Beth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Elsie Mae Bushmeyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Harold Zimmick Jr. officiating. Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, following the service. A memorial fund will be established in Clarence's name.
