DARLINGTON - The City of Darlington Police Department is investigating a residential burglary and reminding residents to stay vigilant.
According to a release from Chief Jason King, on Wednesday, March 27, at approximately 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Clayton Drive after the home owners arrived home from work and discovered their home was burglarized. The interior of the home was ransacked and a number of items were stolen including jewelry and money.
The home was locked during the day so force was used to enter, King said. The matter remains under investigation. A similar-style burglary was committed in neighboring Cuba City during the daytime hours on March 13, 2013. In that case, the interior of the home was ransacked and jewelry and money were stolen.
"It is too soon to know whether the two cases are related," King said, "but the coincidental timing has officers reminding citizens to be vigilant in locking their homes and in reporting any unusual behavior in their neighborhoods during the daytime hours."
