Misdemeanors

• Jennifer K. Metz, aka Jennifer K. Herbst-Ward, 37, Monroe, pleaded no contest Friday, Sept. 14, to a Class A misdemeanor charge of issuing a worthless check and was granted a nine-month deferred prosecution. Two other charges of issuing worthless checks were dismissed against Metz. Conditions of her deferred prosecution agreement include attending monitoring conferences, completing a financial counseling program and paying the remainder of the restitution. Court records indicate she wrote a worthless check to the amount of $55.68 in April to Cenex, Southern Wisconsin Co-op, 2914 13th St., and twice in September 2010 to St. Vincent de Paul, 501 1st Ave., in the amounts of $64.14 and $49.85.

• German Hernandez Gerardo, 29, Monroe, was granted a one-year deferred prosecution Thursday, Sept. 20, on misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Conditions of the dismissal include counseling, payment of court costs, attendance of victim-impact panels and monitoring conferences. Court records indicate he was verbally abusive and slapped and hit a woman in July in a residence in the 700 block of 17th Street.

• Barton Carroll Jackson, 62, Monroe, was granted a one-year deferred prosecution Friday, Sept. 21, on misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct. Conditions of the dismissal include anger management counseling, payment of court costs, no contact with the victim and attendance of monitoring conferences. Court records indicate Jackson repeatedly hit and threatened a woman in a residence in the 1700 block of 30th Avenue in April.
