Jamie Daniel Moats, 19, Monroe, pleaded no contest Tuesday, Sept. 11, to a misdemeanor charge of violating a restraining order and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he continue counseling and continue living at and abiding by the rules of his group home. Court records indicate Moats sent 189 harassing and abusive text messages in a seven-hour period May 26 and, during a four-hour period two days later, sent 64 texts, left 30 voice mails and made more than 100 phone calls to the same person.
Julie Lynn Menehan, 46, Brodhead, has an initial appearance Oct. 1 on a misdemeanor charge filed Aug. 22 of violating a restraining order. Court records indicate she was repeatedly texting a woman in early August.

A criminal complaint with an arrest warrant was filed Aug. 9 for Aaron A. Miller, 24, Arena, on a Class H felony charge that he defrauded an 87-year-old Blanchardville woman in March by taking $875 from her for cabling work he did not do.
James Thomas Westemeier, 39, Cuba City, faces felony charges filed Aug. 13 of strangulation/suffocation, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and child abuse, plus misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct. The charges stem from domestic incidents in June and August in the 600 block of South Splinter Street in Cuba City involving several family members, including a 14-year-old. He signed two $2,000 signature bonds on the conditions that he have no contact with the victims and not drink or enter establishments that sell primarily alcohol. His next court appearance is Sept. 19.
Candelario Ortega-Sanchez, 17, Darlington, has a preliminary hearing Oct. 10 on charges that he had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl July 13 at a dairy farm on Wisconsin 23 in the Town of Willow Springs and again July 20 with the same girl in an apartment in the 200 block of Main Street in Darlington. He faces two Class C felony counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child and a Class I felony count of exposing a child to harmful material. He was released from jail Aug. 16 on a $2,500 cash bond.
