FELONIES
Greg Michael Key, 26, Springville, Ind., pleaded guilty Tuesday, Sept. 25, to a felony charge of theft and was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $500 in restitution. A misdemeanor charge of theft was dismissed. The charges stem from a series of vehicle burglaries in October in Monroe. From a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of 17th Street, court records indicate Key took a Garmin Nuvi 1300 PGS worth $150, several music CDs ($10), a cellphone charger ($20), a tea candle holder in a flattened Corona bottle, a towel and $30 worth of Swiss Colony "Booster Bucks"; and that from a truck in the 1400 block of 15th Street, he took various tools and electronics worth $6,000, plus is responsible for the $500 it cost to rekey the vehicle.
Steven Allen Walters, 42, Monroe, pleaded no contest Tuesday, Oct. 2, to a Class I felony charge of failure to pay child support in 2010. He was granted a two-year deferred prosecution on the conditions that he pay $5,618 in back payments, make ongoing, biweekly payments of $118.94, maintain full-time employment and attend monitoring conferences. A charge of failing to pay child support in 2011 was dismissed.
Jeremy Kainz, 27, address unknown, pleaded no contest Tuesday, Oct. 2, to three misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and one misdemeanor charge of theft. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and two years of probation. Felony charges against him were dismissed. Court records indicate the charges stem from the following incidents: on Jan. 22 in Monroe in the 500 block of West 21st Street, he yelled profanities at his mother and her roommate; on Jan. 26 on Wisconsin 92 east of Madison Street in the unincorporated village of Dayton, attempted to steal a manhole cover; on March 30 in Monroe in the 500 block of West 21st Street, he argued and fought with his mother, shoving her up against her truck and putting her in a headlock; and on June 7 in an apartment in the 300 block of Elmer Road in New Glarus, he yelled and screamed at his pregnant girlfriend, pounded noisily down the stairs and then hid from police in the tall grass behind the apartment building, where officers eventually found him so intoxicated he "could not stand without assistance."
