Green County Misdemeanors
Kendrick James Eichelkraut, 24, Monticello, was sentenced Oct. 8 to nine months in jail for revoking his two-year probation on convictions of misdemeanor bail jumping and third-offense operating while intoxicated. Court records indicate that on July 24, Eichelkraut was intoxicated when he struck another vehicle in the N6500 block of County D in Monticello, severely injuring the other driver. Terms of his probation included not possessing or consuming alcohol. His probation officer noted that Eichelkraut's repeated abuse of alcohol "makes him a danger to himself and the community" and "has affected innocent victims who will always fear the same thing happening again." Felony charges are still pending of fifth-offense OWI, OWI causing injury, operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration (0.21 percent) and operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration causing injury. Eichelkraut has a status conference set for Oct. 23.
Richard Calvin Johann, 35, Monroe, was charged Oct. 9 with two Class A misdemeanor counts of issuing worthless checks. Between June 12 and June 20, 2013, he reportedly wrote two checks totaling $161.98 to Monroe Beverage Mart, 3103 13th St., Monroe, and another for $279.93 on Aug. 12, 2013, to Gempeler's Supermarket, 219 N. Main St., Monticello. A warrant is issued for his arrest.
Lafayette County Misdemeanors
Jarvis Francis Witters, 37, Rewey, was charged Oct. 8 with a third-offense misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated, a third-offense misdemeanor count of driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration and two Class A misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. His co-defendant, Charles T. Stas, 50, Northbrook, Ill., was charged the same day with two Class A misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. They have initial appearances set for Oct. 19. Court records indicate Witters drove a PT Cruiser on July 27 in the 19000 block of Country Club Road, Town of Seymour, with Stas as his passenger. Witters allegedly had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.283 percent and drove the PT Cruiser around in two cornfields, causing a total of $316 in damages. Witters and Stas were arrested soon after at a gas station in Darlington. Police report there were "corn stalks hanging from underneath the car" and that they located a plastic piece broken off the PT Cruiser in one of the corn fields.
