FELONIES
- Steven B. DeVoe, 42, Darlington, pleaded guilty Monday, May 21, to a Class F felony charge of burglary. Judge James Beer dismissed but read in Class I and Class H felony charges of theft and a Class A misdemeanor charge of theft. The criminal complaint against DeVoe, filed March 2, indicates he stole a trailer worth $3,718 from Maple Leaf Cheese Co-op in August 2009, broke into a shed on Monroe-Sylvester Road and stole two all-terrain vehicles worth a total of $5,000 and a motorcycle worth $1,500 in April 2010 and stole a trailer worth $1,500 from a residence on County B in the Town of Cadiz in December 2010. DeVoe faces more than a dozen similar felony charges in Lafayette County. He is accused of selling the stolen items online in both counties, dating back as far as 2007. DeVoe's sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 18.
MISDEMEANORS
- Steven Donald Hill, 53, incarcerated, pleaded no contest Monday, May 21, to a Class misdemeanor charge of bail jumping stemming from an incident in June 2011. He was sentenced to one year of probation. Charges were dismissed against Hill of driving while intoxicated (third offense), driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration of .291 percent and driving with open intoxicants. He was fined $243.
