Joseph M. Grissom, 50, Burlington, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea Friday of possession of marijuana. He also had charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of bail jumping dismissed. Grissom was fined $969. The charges stem from an incident Sept. 20.
On Thursday:
Korie T. Schiffman, 44, New Glarus, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of possession of narcotic drugs. He also had counts of possession of narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia dismissed. Schiffman was sentenced to two years probation with conditions that he not drink, do drugs, or enter bars or liquor stores; he is also ordered to undergo alcohol and other drugs assessment classes as well as controlled substance treatment. Police reports indicate that on Oct. 22, Schiffman was taken to the hospital via ambulance for a drug overdose. He was found in possession of heroin and prescription medication not prescribed to him. Schiffman paid a fine of $268.
Brett L. Niemann, 21, Monticello, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of receiving stolen property less than or equal to $2,500, and will have a charge of receiving stolen property worth between $5,000 and $10,000 deferred. Niemann was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, and will be on probation for one year. He is also ordered to write a letter of apology to the victim and pay restitution to the victim. The charges stem from an incident that occurred March 4. Court records indicate Niemann stole about $6,072 worth of auto parts from a business in the 1500 block of 7th Street, Monroe. Niemann attempted to sell some of the items over Craigslist, but the owner of the business matched the serial numbers to products missing from the business. Niemann owes the court $176.

On Friday:
Gregory J. Busjahn, 50, Monroe, was found guilty due to a guilty plea of driving while intoxicated, fourth offense. He also had a charge of driving with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration dismissed. Busjahn was sentenced to 68 days in jail with work release privileges and two years of probation. He is ordered to not drink or enter bars or liquor stores, and to undergo AODA treatment. He will have his license revoked for 33 months and must install an ignition interlock device for a period of one year upon relicensing. Court records indicate that on June 15, a police officer saw a man driving a moped on 13th Avenue in Monroe stopped in the roadway picking up his hat. When the officer circled back around, he saw Busjahn gun the moped across a lawn and then turn a corner and stop. The officer wrote in his report that Busjahn smelled of alcohol, had glossy eyes and was unsteady on his feet. A field sobriety test was conducted and a preliminary breath test came back at .262 percent. Busjahn owes a fine of $7,265.
Gregory C. Grunewald, 33, New Glarus, was sentenced to one year of probation for charges of knowingly violating a domestic abuse order and disorderly conduct as a part of a deferred prosecution agreement. Grunewald also had additional counts of disorderly conduct and knowingly violating a domestic abuse order dismissed. If Grunewald complies with all terms of the DPA, the charge could be dismissed. Court records indicate that on May 13, Grunewald made phone calls to a person he was prohibited from contacting and called the victim foul names. He owes a fine of $586.

David M. Baumgartner, 52, South Wayne, was found guilty due to a no-contest plea of disorderly conduct stemming from an incident that occurred Oct. 4. Baumgartner owes a forfeiture fine of $326.50. Court records indicate Baumgartner got into a fist fight with a co-defendant, Dennis Carpenter Jr., after Carpenter allegedly touched a dancer at the Trail Side Inn in Browntown. During the fracas, Carpenter allegedly hit one of the bartenders and choked another before fleeing the scene.
Justin M. Mojica, 32, Madison, was sentenced to one year of probation as part of a deferred prosecution agreement for a charge of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct. Mojica also had charges of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct, battery and criminal damage to property dismissed. Court records indicate that on Oct. 28, Mojica yelled at his boyfriend and threw cat feces at him. Mojica also kicked and broke two glass tables and punched the victim in his face multiple times. An estimated $1,300 worth of damage was done to the tables. Mojica owes a fine of $343.
