FELONIES
Kendrick J. Eichelkraut, 24, Monticello, was charged Monday with fourth-offense operating while intoxicated (OWI) and OWI causing injury for an incident Friday in which he allegedly slammed into a truck driven by a 63-year-old Belleville man, who had to be transported to the hospital by helicopter, in the W3800 block of Fahey Road in the Town of Exeter. According to police files, the Belleville man was pulling his truck out of his driveway when Eichelkraut, whom a witness said was traveling at high rate of speed, ran into the driver's side of the truck. Police noted in their report that when they arrived at the scene, blood was gushing from the Belleville man's head and Eichelkraut smelled of alcohol. He reportedly failed standardized field sobriety tests, was arrested, transported to Monroe Clinic for a blood draw and medical clearance, and then taken to jail. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.26 percent, police records indicate. He was also cited for failing to install an ignition interlock device. Court records indicate Eichelkraut signed a $3,000 cash bond Tuesday that orders him not to drink, go into bars or liquor stores or drive without a valid license. He has a preliminary hearing July 31. The Belleville man had his scalp stitched up and was able to move and converse competently the day after the crash, police files show.

Casey E. Fiorucci, 25, Juda, was charged July 14 with possessing drug paraphernalia after police allegedly found marijuana and crack pipes, razor blades and a mirror with a white powdery residue July 13 at a residence in the N2000 block of County OK in the Town of Spring Grove. According to court documents, while police were responding to a report of a potential overdose, they saw drug paraphernalia, seized it and arrested Fiorucci. Court records indicate he signed a $250 signature bond July 14 and is ordered not to consume nonprescription controlled substances or possess drug paraphernalia. He has a pre-trial conference Aug. 18.
Joseph Berger, 49, Freeport, was charged July 22 with domestic-abuse-related disorderly conduct and two counts of bail jumping for allegedly yelling and swearing at a woman he knows and violating bond conditions in a separate case. The charges stem from a July 21 incident that started when police responded to a report of a man and woman yelling loudly in the 600 block of 30th Street in Monroe, court files show. Officers reportedly observed Berger's speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol. He was arrested and jailed after he reportedly told police he had been drinking, a violation of a $1,000 signature bond he signed in August. Another bond condition is to have no violent or abusive contact with the woman, which he allegedly violated. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.17 percent, according to police documents. Court records indicate he signed a $1,500 signature bond in the new case July 23 that orders him not to drink, go into bars or liquor stores or have violent or abusive contact with the woman. He has a pre-trial conference Sept. 1.
Garrett D.A. Wyss, 23, Monroe, was charged July 22 with taking and driving a vehicle without consent and theft of movable property. The charges stem from a June 27 incident in which Wyss allegedly got into an unoccupied, running vehicle in the 1000 block of 12th Street and drove it to his nearby residence in the 800 block of 11th Street. The victim reportedly told police he started his car, ran back into his residence to get something and when he came back out the car was gone. His neighbor reportedly saw Wyss get into the car, followed him to his destination and alerted police. According to court documents, Wyss told investigators the owner of the car asked him for a ride the previous night at Monroe's Friendly Inn, 1335 17th St. Wyss, whom officers noted in their report had slurred speech and bloodshot and glassy eyes, was also arrested for operating while intoxicated. His blood-alcohol concentration was 0.16 percent, police files show. The theft charge stems from Wyss' allegedly taking the key to the vehicle, which could not be located. Court records indicate he signed a $1,500 signature bond July 27 that orders him not to drink or have contact with the victims or their residence. He has a pre-trial conference Sept. 1.
