GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
- Dwayne P. Helmer, 42, Monroe, was sentenced Monday, July 23, to 18 months in prison and one year of extended supervision after he pleaded no contest to revoking the conditions of his probation on a child abuse conviction by having contact with the victim and her family and consuming alcohol in March and by getting into a physical altercation with a fellow jail inmate in April. He was convicted in 2011 of repeatedly slapping an 18-month-old girl on the face and buttocks, leaving her with bruising, abrasions and a swollen eye.
- A criminal complaint with an arrest warrant was filed Friday, July 20, for Brian L. Whitehead, 37, Freeport, Ill., on Class I felony charges of substantial battery and stalking and misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim. The criminal complaint alleges that on July 4, Whitehead pushed a woman to the ground in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue West in Monroe, causing her wrist to fracture, and then later the same day in Orangeville, Ill., pushed her to the ground several more times, stomped on her injured wrist, threatened to kill her and prevented her from reporting the assault.
