GREEN COUNTY
FELONIES
Jeremy Alexander Barnett-Diaz, 20, Albany, was sentenced Friday to three years of probation after pleading no contest to a Class I felony charge of theft. Barnett-Diaz was charged after a resident of the W400 block of Red Cedar Lane, Town of Decatur, reported several valuables, including a wedding ring worth over $5,000, missing from his home on April 21, 2015. The resident learned that Barnett-Diaz had been a guest at his home in the preceding weeks, and officers discovered that Barnett-Diaz had pawned items matching the descriptions of the missing property under his own name.
Seth M. Olin, 30, Juda, entered into a year-long deferred prosecution agreement Friday and was fined $268 on a Class I felony charge of fleeing an officer on a vehicle. The charge stems from a police pursuit that took place on Aug. 8, 2015, in Brodhead. A Brodhead police officer observed Olin on a motorcycle and was informed by a dispatcher that he had no valid permit to drive a motorcycle. The officer then attempted to stop Olin, which instead caused Olin to flee from the officer at speeds over 80 mph on County E. The pursuit ended with Olin temporarily escaping the police before crashing his motorcycle and riding from the scene in a friend's vehicle. An officer arrested him a short time later based on his description. Olin suffered minor injuries from the crash but agreed that he was lucky to have survived.
MISDEMEANORS
Amanda Louise Parsons, 34, Madison, entered into a year-long deferred prosecution agreement Friday and was fined $493.50 on Class A misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer and lesser charges of disorderly conduct. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 29, 2015, when an inebriated Parsons kicked and shattered the windshield of a car in which she was a passenger before leaving the vehicle to walk along Wisconsin 69 in Monroe. Police confronted Parsons, who was verbally abusive throughout the encounter. Parsons was taken to a hospital, where she was uncooperative to officers and hospital staff, pushing them, kicking them and swearing at them. At one point, Parsons ripped an IV out of her arm, spraying blood into an officer's face. Felony charges of battery to officers and attempted battery to hospital personnel were dismissed.
