• Aaron L. Frayer, 42, Janesville, remains free on a $1,500 signature bond after making his initial appearance Wednesday for substantial battery, false imprisonment, battery, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct charges.

Court records allege he hit a woman three times, causing a concussion, blocked the door to prevent her from leaving, shoved her to the floor, barricaded himself in a room and struggled with officers when taken into custody Jan. 12 in Brodhead.

He is charged with false imprisonment, a class H felony, substantial battery, a class I felony, battery and obstructing an officer, both class A misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor. He faces more than 11 years in prison and up to $41,000 in fines, if convicted.

His preliminary hearing is Jan. 21.
