Misdemeanors
♦ Nicole Jean Gatza, 39, Brodhead, pleaded no contest and entered a one-year deferred prosecution agreement Jan. 17 on a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident Oct. 21 at a home on Pandow Drive in Brodhead. A Class A misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property was dismissed. Court records indicate the resident called 911 after Gatza showed up at his home intoxicated and upset over money, pounded on the windows, yelled profanities, threatened to kill him and tore his screen door. When police arrived, a breathalyzer test showed she had a blood-alcohol content of 0.157 percent, almost twice the legal limit for driving. In a victim impact statement to the court, the man asked that all charges against Gatza be dropped: "Nicole Gatza is a good person. ... Please, it was a mistake." Her deferred prosecution is "provided as an incentive to seek and obtain necessary treatment and counseling," starting with an assessment for alcohol or drug abuse, the agreement states. If Gatza complies with all conditions of her agreement, the case will be fully dismissed.
