MONROE - Fritz C. Sandlin, 33, Monroe, pleaded no contest and received deferred prosecution on Thursday, Dec. 15, for a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from a Sept. 8 incident. Court records indicate Sandlin called a 12-year-old girl a racial slur and threatened to burn a cross on her forehead and in her yard. The court struck hate-crime charge modifiers from his record. As part of his deferred prosecution agreement, Sandlin must pay a fine of $163 to the court and attend classes in anger management and racial sensitivity. He is also ordered to have no contact with the victim.

- Dennis E. Carpenter, 18, Monroe, was convicted on Friday, Dec. 16, on a Class B misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct stemming from an Oct. 2 domestic dispute. The court dismissed a Class A misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property. Carpenter must pay a fine of $447.50.

- Derek Morgan, 19, Monroe, was convicted on Friday, Dec. 16, on Class U misdemeanor charges of possessing THC and possessing drug paraphernalia stemming from incidents in April 2010 and July 2011. The court dismissed two counts of bail jumping charges, as well as charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, a dangerous weapon and THC. Morgan must pay a fine of $504.75.
