FELONIES

• Anthony James Stocks, 30, Hazel Green, Leah Ann Stocks, 29, Gratiot, and Stacy M. Thommen, 35, Dubuque, were each charged Dec. 1 with a Class F felony count of burglary and misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal damage to property. The three were charged after an investigation into a burglary at a storage unit in the 2300 block of Robert Homb Memorial Drive, Town of Wayne. The padlock of the unit was found cut on Aug. 1, with several items within missing. One of the missing items was a checkbook, from which several checks were cashed at nearby businesses in the following days. The checks were traced to Thommen, who was also in possession of several of the other stolen items. Thommen said the Stocks had broken into the unit initially and had given her several of the stolen items for her to resell. The three were all charged as parties to the crime. The initial appearance for the trio will take place Jan. 23. The maximum possible sentence for their charges is 10.5 years in prison each.

• Kyle Gregory Johnson, 26, Darlington, was charged Dec. 16 with a Class H felony count of battery by a prisoner. Johnson, an inmate at the Lafayette County Jail, was charged after he was involved in a physical altercation with his cellmate, Jamison Schumacher, 23, Belmont, on Sept. 27. According to a witness, Johnson was upset with Schumacher because neither Schumacher nor a third cellmate would give up their medication to him. After Schumacher spoke to a deputy about Johnson's behavior, Johnson attacked Schumacher, punching him repeatedly about the face until the latter fell to his knees, whereupon Johnson kneed Schumacher in the face and kicked him in the ribs. Johnson's initial appearance is scheduled for Jan. 23. His maximum possible sentence is three additional years in prison.

• Nicholas Edward Roberts, 35, Benton, and Kami Jo Adolf, 29, Shullsburg, were charged Dec. 19 with a Class H felony count of possessing meth storage paraphernalia, a Class I felony count of possessing methamphetamine and a misdemeanor count of obstructing an officer. The two were charged after an incident on Sept. 13 in the 5000 block of Palfrey Road, Town of Shullsburg. According to a police report, an officer stopped Adolf's vehicle due to loud exhaust. During the stop, Adolf was cited for driving with a revoked license. While administering the citation, however, the officer observed Roberts surreptitiously moving an item from below the vehicle's dash to Adolf's purse. After a lengthy exchange wherein Adolf and Roberts attempted to keep the item from the officer, the item was discovered to be a glass smoking pipe and several baggies of crystal meth. The pair's initial appearance will take place Jan. 23. The maximum possible sentence for their charges is 4.5 years in prison.
