Green County Felonies
- Daniel Marcado, 32, Romeoville, Ill., pleaded no contest Aug. 1 to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct from July 2003 and to felony charges of failing to pay child support in 2006 and 2007. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and three years of probation, with the conditions that he obtain and maintain employment and pay all past and current child support obligations. He owes the court $1,647. The disorderly conduct charge stems from a domestic dispute in his former home in the 1000 block of 15th Street in Monroe. Court records indicate he loudly argued with a woman and hit her in the face and neck.
- Steven Alexander Steiner, 20, Browntown, was charged Aug. 8 with felony bail jumping and misdemeanor counts of bail jumping, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. He was also charged Aug. 7 with Class A misdemeanor counts of bail jumping and obstructing an officer. Court records indicate that on July 20 in the parking lot of Monroe's Taco Bell he yelled and swore at his ex-girlfriend, pushed her to the ground and threw food at her vehicle, in violation of a no-contact order. He also allegedly damaged a vehicle in the parking lot with a wooden baseball bat, leaving cracks and dents. The records further indicate he falsely identified himself to an officer as "Dylan Schwitz" on Aug. 6 at the Pecatonica River boat landing off Wisconsin 11 in Cadiz Township. Conditions of his cash bonds in the cases include no drinking. His initial appearance is Aug. 12.
- Allen M. Petro II, 19, Browntown, was charged Aug. 9 with a felony count of hit-and-run causing injury and misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer and reckless driving causing bodily harm, stemming from a traffic accident in Monroe at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 10th Street. Court records indicate Petro hit a pedestrian with his 1994 Ford Probe, causing the man to be thrown up against the windshield, then fled the scene and lied to an officer about the incident. The pedestrian's injuries included bruises and abrasions to his right knee, elbow and shoulder. Petro's initial appearance is Aug. 12.
Misdemeanors
- Allen Raymond Wunschel, 40, Monroe, pleaded no contest July 31 to an unclassified misdemeanor charge of violating a harassment restraining order and was sentenced to one year of probation, with the conditions that he pay court costs and continue counseling. Records indicate he sent a lewd and graphic text to a Brodhead woman last October.
- Joshua Christopher Broge, 25, jailed in Monroe, was sentenced Aug. 1 to five months in jail for revoking his probation on misdemeanor convictions from 2011 and 2012 of bail jumping, disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing an officer. His probation agent reported that Broge drank and went into a bar in June and was stopped earlier this year for drunk driving, a case that is still pending. "There is a very direct correlation between his drinking and his criminal behaviors. He has had ample time to address this issue but continually delayed," the agent wrote, recommending that treatment for Broge's alcohol abuse could work better in a confined setting.
- Michael J. Korecz, 27, Monroe, was charged Aug. 9 with misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct, stemming from domestic disputes at his home in the 1300 block of 16th Street in Monroe. Court records indicate he yelled at a woman, threatened her, kicked her in the knees and grabbed her around the neck, putting her in a choke hold. His initial appearance is Aug. 12.
- Cheyenna Maria Blum, 25, Monticello, was charged Aug. 9 with a Class A misdemeanor count of taking and driving a vehicle without consent and then abandoning it. Court records indicate on July 10 she took and drove a 2011 Chevy Equinox without the owner's consent, then abandoned it in a parking stall in downtown Monroe. Her initial appearance is Aug. 12.
Lafayette County Felonies
- Kent Ryan Johnson, 29, Blanchardville, was sentenced Aug. 5 to two years in prison and three years of extended supervision for revoking his probation on convictions from 2011 of forgery and bail jumping. His original offense was for multiple counts of forging his grandmother's checks. His probation agent reported that Johnson continued writing bad checks after his conviction, mostly for beer, and ignored repeated warnings to stop. In January, he was told to report to jail but didn't. He "gave a lot of lip service to how busy he was" but wasn't even working fulltime as ordered, the agent concluded. "He does not have the financial ability to cover these checks he has written and the majority of these victims will likely never see any money out of him."
- David Steven Stampfli, Sr., 49, Blanchardville, was charged July 23 with a felony count of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, battery and criminal damage to property, stemming from a domestic disturbance at his home on Wisconsin 78 in Blanchard Township in April. Court records indicate he was intoxicated when he bruised a woman, damaged a bedroom door frame and drove off with her 2013 Chevy Malibu, then abandoned it in a muddy pasture. His signature bond is set at $2,000 with the condition that he not threaten or engage in violent or abusive conduct toward the alleged victim. He has a status conference Aug. 20.
Misdemeanors
- Paige Elizabeth Martin, 20, Mineral Point, pleaded guilty July 24 to an unclassified misdemeanor count of possessing an illegally obtained prescription drug, fluoxetine (Prozac), during a traffic stop in January on U.S. 151 in Belmont Township. She was granted an 18-month deferred prosecution with the conditions that she pay the court $243 and not drink or go in bars or liquor stores. She is also ordered to pay for her own Behavioral Health Assessment and follow through with any recommendations, including alcohol- or drug-abuse counseling.
- Jessica M. Halvorson, 25, Darlington, was charged July 25 with a Class B misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from a dispute over a damaged car on July 20 at her home on Galena Street. Her signature bond is set at $500. Her next court hearing is Aug. 26.
- Gerard Allen McKibben, 24, Argyle, was charged Aug. 23 with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, bail jumping and criminal damage to property, stemming from an incident June 22 outside a residence on Breeze Terrace in Argyle. Court records indicate he was "highly intoxicated" when he showed up in the early morning hours at the home, banged on the windows and ripped off a screen, causing $30.77 in damage. His signature bond is set at $1,500 with the conditions that he not drink or go into bars or liquor stores. His next court hearing is Aug. 19.
- Louis M. Burris, 66, Darlington, was charged July 31 with fourth-degree sexual assault, a Class A misdemeanor, based on an allegation that he groped a neighbor woman's chest while she was out walking her dog on May 5. His initial appearance is Aug. 19.
- Chanelle M. Saxer, 26, South Wayne, was charged July 31 with a Class B misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from a fight with her estranged husband on South Varnum Street. Officers responded to a 911 hang-up from the home and found a "substantial amount of blood on the couch and floor." The husband, Jonathan Paul Saxer, 26, faces a similar charge. They both have an initial appearance Aug. 19.
- Joshua David Fitzsimons, 33, Darlington, was charged Aug. 1 with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property, stemming from a domestic dispute June 19 at his home on Furnace Hill Road. Court records indicate he was intoxicated when he "bodyslammed" a woman and broke her cellphone. His initial appearance is Aug. 19.
