MONROE - Chester Gieraltowski, age 86, formerly of Sycamore, Ill. and a seven year resident of Twining Valley, Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; brother, Gene; and parents, Joseph and Mary. He is survived by his children, John (Mary) Gieraltowski, Elgin, Ill.; Rita (Jim) Prokuski, Monroe, and Teresa Canham, Madison.

Devoted grandfather to Jason, Stephanie, and Justin Gieraltowski, Kim (Joel) Hedeman and Katie Prokuski, Tim (Liz) Canham, Jenny (Don) Thompson, and Tracy and Tiffany Canham. Loving great-grandfather to Natalie, Brenden and Mariah.

Caring brother-in-law to Stanley and Bernice Sablik, Sycamore, Ill., and fond uncle to many.

A special thank you to Pleasant View Nursing Home where he resided for two years and was treated like family.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at Butala Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ill. (815) 895-2833, immediately followed by a chapel service and burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore, Ill.
