Charlotte J. Abplanalp, age 93 of Juda, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Charlotte was born July 22, 1919 in Roggenburg, Switzerland, the daughter of Otto and Juli (Walther) Baumgartner. She immigrated to the United States in 1948, settling in Monroe. Charlotte and Albert Abplanalp were married on February 24, 1951 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. Charlotte helped her husband make cheese at several area factories before moving to Jefferson Township where they farmed from 1964 until 1979. She was a former member of the Swiss Club.

She is survived by three children, Tony, Alex (Sharon), and Charlotte Abplanalp, all of Juda; two granddaughters; three greatgranddaughters; two sisters, Hedy (Constant) Willemin and Anna (Walter) Segginger, all of Switzerland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 12, 2000; one granddaughter; one sister and six brothers.
