Beverly Rose (Gutzmer) Gebhardt age 64 of Monroe, WI passed away on Saturday April 18th, 2015 at her home surrounded by family, after a short 5 month, but very courageous and hard fought battle with uterine cancer. Beverly was born on August 5, 1950 in Monroe to Alfred and Ilo (Camron) Gutzmer. Beverly attended Mills Grade School a one room rural school near Woodford that had been attended by her grandfather and her father. The Mills School closed in 1960; then Beverly attended Woodford grade school until 1963. In 1964, she moved with her parents and brother, Larry to a new home five miles north of Monroe. Beverly graduated from Monroe High School in 1968. She worked at the Advance Transformer Cafeteria until she married Ernest Gebhardt Jr. on April 20th, 1969. Ernest and Beverly were blessed with four children, Amy (1970), Paul (1973), Sarah (1983) and David (1987). Beverly was a very active homemaker and active in her community and church. Beverly was a member of the Christian Women's Club later known as Stateline Women's connection since 1970. She was active on the board and was chairperson of the book sales. She enjoyed hosting the prayer coffees with the ladies at her house and giving book presentations to the club. Beverly was a 21 year member of the Green County board from 1977-1998. She was a Monroe City Council Alderperson for 8 years from 1995-2000 and again from 2002-2006. Beverly served on the Green County Commission on Aging, Human Services, Pleasant View Nursing Home and Green County Health committees. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women and Church Women United. She was also active in the Quester's Antique club and Swiss Attic Fanciers and enjoyed planning trips for the groups. Beverly was a member of the Green County Historical Society and volunteered at the museum. She and Ernest were members of the Yesteryear Auto Club where she also planned many fun outings for the club. Beverly served as a church secretary and Sunday school teacher. Beverly began being a volunteer driver for Green County Human Services in 1980. She took time off to raise Sarah and David and then began driving again in 1996; she drove cancer and dialysis patients many days a week right up until her own cancer surgery on Nov. 17, 2014. Beverly thoroughly loved driving her patients and talking with them. Beverly loved to travel and her most memorable trips were to Jerusalem with her parents, two trips to Germany including fulfilling her lifelong dream of seeing the German Passion Play in Oberammergau, and a 4 month trip her and Ernie took in 2012 across the country sightseeing along the way. Beverly was extremely social and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved to go Folk dancing at Folklore village in Dodgeville and visited House on the Rock many times. She loved to take family and friends on interesting day trips including her favorite place, Amana, IA. Beverly was an Elvis fan and a member of the Tony Rocker Fan Club. Beverly cherished her children and grandchildren and did everything she could to help them; she loved preparing meals for the family and spending time playing board games or cards around the dining room table. Beverly was a collector of many things including antiques, angels, crosses and music boxes and loved showing her home and collections to friends. As Beverly fought this terrible disease she remained upbeat and never wavered in her faith. She read her bible and devotions every day. She was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her and she wanted everyone to know that she did everything in her power to beat the cancer; it was just not in God's plan. Beverly spent years researching family history and has an extensive collection of history recorded for the Gutzmer, Boelk and Camron families.
Quote from Beverly- "Remember your heritage, ask questions, keep the answers, for once on this earth there lived a person named Beverly Rose Gutzmer who had thoughts and dreams like those who went before and those who are left."
Beverly is survived by her loving husband, of 46 years (on April 20, 2015) Ernest Gebhardt Jr.
Four Children - Amy (Todd) Burkhalter of Monroe, WI, Paul (Lori) Gebhardt of Ft. Knox, KY, Sarah (Andrew) Reister of Monroe, WI, and David (fiancé Laura Riel) Gebhardt of Madison, WI

God saw her getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away, although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Beverly and her family would like to thank all of our friends and family for the countless cards, visits and phone calls; we also thank the UW Hospital Carbone Cancer Center and the Monroe Clinic Hospice for their excellent care. Memorial funds will be given to the United Methodist Church Confirmation photo display case in Beverly's honor.
Visitation will be on Saturday April 25th from 4pm-8pm At the Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral home. Funeral Services will be on Sunday April 26th, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. David Busker officiating, food and fellowship will follow. Committal ceremony will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe on Monday April 27th at 2pm for anyone wishing to attend.
