Bernard O. Albright age 83 of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home. Bernard was born August 4, 1931 on the home farm in Sylvester Township, the son of Orvail F. and Wilma (Campbell) Albright. Bernard attended Prien Rural School, graduated from Monroe High School in 1949, and attended the Farm and Industry short course in Madison. Bernard farmed his entire life in Sylvester Township. He married Joanne Schwartzlow on February 14, 1955 at the Evangelical Church in Monroe. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, Midwest Dairymen, Green County Farm Bureau, AMPI, and was a 4-H general leader and leader of tractor and small engines. Bernard enjoyed woodworking, collecting toy and full size tractors, yard work, talking to people, puzzles, bird watching, and Sunday dinners with church friends. He was active with Meals on Wheels, the Green County Fair Antique Tractor Display, and was proud to host the 2003 Green County Dairy Breakfast, Sangerfest Swiss Breakfast, and a barn dance that helped raise funds for the Green County Welcome Center.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne Albright of Monroe; three sons, Mike Albright of Brodhead, Ronald (Karla) Albright, and Steve Albright, both of Monroe; grandchildren, Heather (Mitch) Williams of McFarland, Eric Albright of Monroe, and Taylor Albright of Indiana; a brother, Keith (Judy) Albright of Arpin, WI; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters; and a sister, Marlene Albright.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Juda. Visitation will be on Monday, May 11, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Bernard's name.
