Arlo Franklin Stuessy

Arlo Franklin Stuessy passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2015 at age 83 in San Diego, CA with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Lura Ruth Stuessy, his two sons Kurt & Eric Stuessy, daughter Jane and husband Andrew Grodzicki, his brother Lowell Stuessy, sister Cindi Trimble and his five grandchildren.

Arlo was born on Nov. 19, 1931 in Monroe, WI to Herman and Leona Stuessy and was the first of three siblings. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U.S Navy in 1951, where he served as a statistical math flight controller and control tower operator. He was honorably discharged in 1954 then attended Denver University from 1955 to 1958 and graduated with B.A. in Aviation Administration.

Arlo married Lura Ruth Heinzelman in Monroe, WI on September 29, 1957. After graduating from Denver University, Arlo worked for Martin Marietta Co. in Denver, CO for five years. He then moved his family back to the Midwest (Monroe WI, Belvidere IL & Arlington Heights, IL) where he worked in the airline industry and corporate sales. In 1972 he achieved his life long dream of being his own boss by starting a chain of retail clothing stores in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. In 1982 Arlo moved his family to San Diego, CA where he started a video arcade business and worked in many different fields as well. He then put his many years of experience to use working for the State of California helping high-level executives find employment. Arlo retired in 2002 at 72 spending the last years of his life enjoying his family with his wife Lura. Arlo was interned at the Miramar National Cemetery with full Military honors in San Diego, CA on Nov. 10, 2015.
