This is the final Curtain Call ... for our star, Anita J. Ambrose, age 71, of Monroe, died on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at her home. She was born on March 14, 1943 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Lowe) Barger. Anita was a 1961 graduate of McHenry Community High School.

Anita and Robert Ambrose Sr. were married on July 31, 1963 in McHenry, IL.

She attended Union Presbyterian Church, was a charter member of the Monroe Theater Guild, member of Women of the Moose Chapter #599, Monroe Arts Center and Monroe Women's Club.

Before her accident, Anita enjoyed bowling, the Monroe Theater Guild, helping at Blackhawk School, and spending time with family and friends. She was a supporter of the Monroe Clinic Hospice Foundation and the Green County Humane Society.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Lenae) Ambrose, Brett (Shawn) Ambrose, Tom Ambrose, all of Monroe; daughter, Katie (Rudy) Bennett of Burlington; sister, Donna Jensen of Wonderlake, IL; brothers, Steve (Debra) Ormord of Dodge City, KS; David Barger, Thomas (Susan) Barger, and Richard Barger all of Pittsfield, IL; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; her two dogs, Duke and Jake.

She is predeceased by her husband, parents, step-mother, Annabelle Barger.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church with Reverend Jesse Larson officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr. and N. 18th Ave. in Monroe.
