Amy "Adeline" Woodworth

Amy "Adeline" Woodworth, age 89, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, WI. She was born November 4, 1923 in Shullsburg the daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Goodenough) Alderson. Adeline graduated from Clinton High School in 1941 in Clinton, WI. Following her graduation she worked at the Beloit Telephone Office for a short time. Adeline then worked at the Savannah Ordinance Depot before moving to Shullsburg, where she worked at the Shullsburg Telephone Office until her marriage. She was united in marriage to J. Douglas Woodworth on December 16, 1943 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. Following their marriage they then owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Shullsburg.

Adeline is survived by four children: Robert (Sue) Woodworth, J. Douglas (Barb) Woodworth, Ronald (Sherry) Woodworth, and Carol (Dennis) Allendorf all of Shullsburg; nine grandchildren: Tim Allendorf, Lisa Morrissey, Rick Woodworth, Randy Woodworth, Nichole Vinger, Theresa Burgess, Mark Woodworth, Michael Woodworth, and Shelley Nguyen; 18 great-grandchildren and another due in March; two brothers: Leonard (Ruth) Alderson of Janesville, WI, and Edward (Bette) Alderson of La Quinta, CA; one sister: Mary Ellen Fay of Columbia, MS; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 1, 1970; three brothers: Joseph, Thomas, and James Alderson; one sister: Edith Heim; two brothers-in-law: Al Fay and Luvern Heim; and two sisters-in-law: Isabelle Harrison and Eva Alderson.

Adeline was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Adeline enjoyed crocheting and reading. She especially enjoyed her garden and working in her yard.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Community Evangelical Free Church, 6522 County Road U in rural Shullsburg with Rev. Jeffrey A. Meyer of Centenary United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home, 235 North Judgement Street in Shullsburg.
