Alvin H. Best, age 94, of New Glarus Nursing Home, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on July 10, 1920 in Brooklyn, WI; the son of Harry and Alvina (Noggles) Best. Alvin and Susanna Rhyner were married on January 31, 1948.
Alvin farmed in the Brooklyn, Evansville, and Albany area retiring in 2007. He enjoyed reading and spending time outdoors.
Alvin is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Robert Hort) Best of Monticello and 1 granddaughter, Brenda Hort of Alvin, TX.
He is predeceased by his parents; wife, Susanna; son, Melvin; 2 brothers, Ivan and Arvin; 2 sisters, Leota Ace and Illa Keehn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., and N. 18th Ave., with Pastor David Busker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.
