Alice Joan Frank, age 76 of Monroe, unexpectedly went to meet with her family on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Alice was born March 13, 1933 in Dunn County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Dow) Cranston. She graduated from Elmwood, WI High School. Alice and Donald S. Frank were married on August 6, 1966 in Menomonie, WI. They moved to Monroe where Alice worked at Pre-Pak for many years. She also was employed as a waitress at the Idle Hour Mansion for 15 years and retired from the Monroe Manor in 2003.

She was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754 for over 30 years. She enjoyed walking around Monroe, dancing, car rides, bowling, trips to "the boat," and going out with the girls.

She is survived by three children, Marie Frandy of Albany, Nancy Matthews of Middleton, and Steve Johnson of Monroe; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Cranston of St. Paul, MN; and a brother, Robert (Isabelle) Cranston of Brooklyn Park, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, on Jan. 29, 2005; four sisters, Jean Haase, Donna Kizer, Joyce Smith, and Mary Braker; and two brothers, Richard and Marvin Cranston.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe. Reverend Lowell Stuessy will officiate with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Alice's name.
